Understanding the benchmark
Color Reaction combines response speed with a four-choice decision. After a random wait, a large red, blue, green, or yellow cue appears. Identify it and select the matching labeled button. It is a general browser benchmark, not a scientific or diagnostic assessment.
Reaction Time asks you to respond to one simple signal. Color Reaction adds identification and choice: you must decide which signal appeared and activate the corresponding fixed-position control.
Trial flow
Choose 10, 20, or 30 rounds. Every trial uses a random 1–2.5 second wait and an independently selected color. One response completes a cue. Correct answers, wrong choices, and five-second timeouts advance the round; false starts retry the same round.
Decision speed
Only correct trials contribute. For correct times of 400, 450, 350, and 400 milliseconds:
400 + 450 + 350 + 400 = 1,600 ms
1,600 ÷ 4 = 400 ms average
A run with no correct answers displays a dash instead of an invalid average or classification.
Choice accuracy
Accuracy includes every completed cue, including wrong choices and timeouts. Eighteen correct responses from twenty completed trials produce:
Pressing a color before the cue appears is a false start. It does not count as a completed trial or reveal the upcoming color. The same round begins again with a fresh unpredictable wait.
Context matters
Device hardware, touchscreen or mouse input, display latency, attention, familiarity with fixed button positions, distractions, and fatigue can all change a completed result.
